There have been some horrific stories of violence against women this past year in India, and there is still a lot that needs to be done for women's rights around the world.

There's a lot we have today in Canada and other Western nations that makes our lives much happier (access to contraception, abortion, the option to pursue whatever career we want, fairer pay at work, maternity leave, anti-rape laws, and many more).
So take a moment to recognize all the hard work our mothers and grandmothers put into getting us these rights we can happily take for granted today.
And don't forget to keep fighting so we can help women around the world gain some of the same privileges, so we don't lose those rights, and so our daughters and granddaughters can have an even better life than we do.
Check out this video from UN Women, an organization only 26 months old. They wouldn't have been formed so recently if there weren't still many problems to address around the world. So pay attention, remember, and help in the fight for equal rights.
